Resources to learn semiconductor device simulation

The proof behind Silvaco's semiconductor device simulation and circuit design tools: application notes, published papers, the Simulation Standard journal, webinars, training and worked examples you can run yourself. Read it, run it or pass it on. Silvaco doesn't put any of it behind a form.

Filter by format and product family, or by the physics topic you need. Foundry kits live separately, on Process Design Kits.

Browse by physics

Semiconductor device simulation splits by physics as much as by tool. Pick the device or effect you're working on and trace it back to the method. For a quick definition, the glossary is faster.

The Simulation Standard

Issues run back to 1998, written for engineers who model processes and devices. Most articles take a single problem and work it through on Silvaco tools, at whatever length the physics demands.

Predictive TCAD Modeling of Normally-Off p-GaN HEMTs for Dynamic RDS(on), Leakage, Breakdown, and ML-Based Design Exploration

A simulation flow for normally-off p-GaN HEMTs. It calibrates the device physics first, then models leakage, dynamic RDS(on) and breakdown, and hands design exploration to machine learning.

Worked examples by tool

Years of benchmark work and published results went into these examples, and each one shows a tool on a real problem. They're as useful for an evaluation as for teaching or self-study.

Each Silvaco software package installs the example set for its own version. If one listed here is missing from your installation, you're on an older release. Update from Support and Downloads, or ask Silvaco support which version you need.

Got a question the paper didn't answer?

Ask about a specific result, or whether a method carries over to your own device. Our technical experts will talk it through with you, and if you'd rather test it with your data, request an evaluation.

License holders who need help with the software itself go through Silvaco support, under Support and Downloads.
