Automotive Controllers

Silvaco's automotive controllers connect your SoC to CAN, CAN FD, FlexRay and LIN networks. All four are production-proven, so your evaluation starts from a track record, not a promise.

Match the controller to the network

Three networks, four automotive controllers. CAN gets two.

  • CAN and CAN FD

FlexCAN carries CAN FD frames of up to 64 bytes at rates to 8 Mbit/s. MultiCAN is for chips that need several CAN channels: up to six CAN 2.0B nodes in one block, with Twin CAN, and TTCAN when traffic has to run on a schedule.

  • FlexRay

The FlexRay controller speaks FlexRay 2.1 over AHB. A single channel gives you 10 Mbit/s. Add the second for 20 Mbit/s, or mirror the first so a fault on either one leaves the link up.

  • LIN

LINFlexD speaks LIN 1.3, 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, as master or as slave, at bus speeds to 20 kbit/s. Put it on switches and actuators, where a CAN node would be more bus than the job needs.

Looking for a different automotive controller?

Name the bus and what you need the controller to do. Silvaco's IP team will say plainly whether there's IP to license for it, and what safety documentation is available.
